Production Manager, VFX Supervisor, Timeline Assembly

Managed and scheduled this award-winning stop motion animated feature film comprising of 1500+ shots, 100 sets, 200 characters, thousands of props/set dressing; built in 16 weeks (pre-production), shot in 32 weeks (production) and animated across nine stages. My role also included the day-to-day management of the camera, set dressing, lighting and animation departments to achieve the shots in the allocated production time and within budget, using Shotgrid to schedule the production and generate reports for the completion guarantor and investors. Additionally, I acted as 1st Assistant Director on the studio floor to ensure the schedule was adhered to and supporting the director, while also assisting the director/editor with Timeline/Animatic Assembly.

In tandem with my role of Production Manager, I was also supervising the VFX required for the production (up to 600 shots), with responsibilities including creating treatments and postviz comps for the edit and turnovers; reviewing, approving and providing feedback for shots; determining new VFX shots, their scope of work; and communicating these requirements with the external post production producer, VFX Editor and producers.

Production Coordinator

From February to December 2020 I was the Assembly and Layout production coordinator at Animal Logic Sydney on this Warner Bros/DC 3D CG-animated feature film, followed by coordinating the Animation, Character Final, FX and Character FX departments simultaneously through to September 2021.

VFX Production Assistant

As production assistant I am responsible in assisting the associate VFX producer Jason Bath, VFX and CG Supervisors including Matt Middleton, and the production management team at Animal Logic on the hybrid-CG animated film 'Peter Rabbit 2' while acting as a support for all the involved department supervisors and coordinators, such as Art, Story, Editorial, Assets, Animation, Compositing, Tracking/Layout, FX/CharFX and more.

This role involves calendar management for the entire show as well as for the producers and supervisors, management of weekly new starters across all departments, delivery of various types of assets to the client (Sony Pictures) and director for approval. Additionally, I have undertaken coordinating duties for front-end departments such as Art, which has heavily involved Marketing and the coordination of deliverables through the pipe. I have also been actively involved in assisting and helping out coordinators and production with learning of processes and tools.

Creative pursuits collide with matters of the heart on Melbourne’s inner-city streets. Lou, a young essayist,
is trying to finish his first paid piece, but can’t find the right words. Nor can he find the words to express his
feelings to his crush Sylvie, a woman nine years his senior. Lou co-hosts an independent radio show with
his friend Elena, an amateur director who is preparing a play in a secret attempt to reveal her own feelings
for Lou. When the truth comes out, Lou’s essay, and his understanding of love, begin to change.

This Australian Film Television and Radio School Master of Arts Screen graduating project is being written and directed by Andréas Giannopoulos with producer Braiden Asciak, cinematographer Ehran Edwards, and editor James A. Thomas.

Shot in Melbourne in Autumn 2019 on Super 16 film, Friends of Mine features emerging talent Alex Donnelly (as Lou), Chi Nguyen (as Elena), and Emily Joy (as Sylvie), against the real-life backdrops of Fitzroy’s Babka Bakery Café, Triple R’s East Brunswick studios, Northcote’s Neighbourhood Books, and Clifton Hill’s Darling Gardens.

The Westbury Faery is a Shorty Award-winning elaborate interactive multiplatform world-building project spanning many forms of media including live action cinematic film, low-fi found footage style viral video, community building across social networks, an interactive website, an Augmented Reality app, live online characters and a beautiful illustrated book of original user-contributed short stories. Exploring the fine line between fiction and truth, this story combines Australian, Canadian and Irish history with folktale set in the 1840s and today.

UNBROKEN | PRODUCER

2018 - 2019

Unbroken is a unique multi-artform project that celebrates a group of Australians who have embraced their imperfections and discovered strength in their traumas.

With a strong focus on inclusivity, ten diverse individuals share deeply moving stories of vulnerability and resilience, bringing attention to many current social issues such as loss, body image, sexuality and gender, disability, racism, mental illness, asylum seeking and sexual assault.

As they were painted, each participant exemplified the essence of the Kintsugi art form through the sharing of their experiences, expressing confidence and self-acceptance of themselves and their bodies.

Unbroken: An Exhibition was presented in the Angela Robarts-Bird Gallery at Gasworks Arts Park during Midsumma Festival 2019, Australia’s leading queer arts and cultural organisation, for and by people who identify as LGBTQIA+.

The exhibition ran for three weeks from January 21st to February 10th 2019 with an opening night event featuring live performances by the project’s queer participants Lady Zee and Achala.
